Anjan Ghosh
President
Dear Member,
I am honoured and grateful to you for the opportunity you gave me to serve Bengal Club as its President for 2010~11. I promise, in turn, to endeavour to protect and enhance ~ with your cooperation and guidance ~ the unique heritage, tradition and dignity of our great Club.
Over the past few years, much effort went into updating and upgrading the facilities of the Club for your enjoyment. In July we opened Trattoria 1827, a restaurant that serves Italian cuisine, and the Sports Bar. You will be happy to know that both the new outlets have started generating additional revenue ~ thanks to your patronage.
We will continue to refurbish the remaining Residential Chambers during the year. Our thrust will be on consolidating our existing facilities and keeping the Club in a sprightly state. The ageing abode of a vintage institution such as ours needs continuing maintenance. This demands significant financial and other supports which we have to muster.
We intend to introduce other activities, too. Particularly the Saturday evening jollification and the Wednesday and Friday night rendezvous. We will work to present a gourmet dinner every month along with a befitting entertainment event.
Your Committee looks forward to interacting with large gatherings of Members on those nights so that congeniality becomes synonymous with Bengal Club events.
Our Union Agreements expired on March 31, 2010. Charters of Demands from both the Unions are under negotiation. Every effort will be made to reach harmonious conclusion bearing in mind the best interest of the Club.
We look forward to your participation, your thoughts and your ideas, all of which we value. With your understanding and help, we will work to achieve an even more glorious future.

Good wishes,
